Výstava Donata Piccola Reverzibilné mechanizmy je prvou výstavou tohto mladého talianskeho umelca na Slovensku. Jeho tvorba variuje od kresby, sochy cez inštaláciu k performance, zaujíma ho vzťah umenia a vedy. Zameriava sa na vedecké, filozofické a emocionálne aspekty vnímania fyzikálnych javov. Ako sochársky materiál používa vodu, paru či svetlo. Výraznou zložkou jeho diel je interaktivita. Jeho práce oscilujú na hranici medzi racionalitou a emocionalitou, na jednej strane pripomínajú vedecké pokusy, na druhej umožnujú priame prežívanie javov vyskytujúcich sa v prírode. Výsledkom tohto prístupu je séria objektov, predstavujúcich reálny uragán, búrku či dážď, presne tak, ako ich poznáme z prírody, ktoré sú uzatvorené v sklených kubusoch, alebo voľne nainštalované v priestore. Pre Donata Piccola je charakteristická minimalistická estetika, využívanie funkčných tvarov a takmer laboratórna atmosféra. V poslednom období sa jeho tvorba koncentrovala na skúmanie reverzibilných procesov.

Reverzibilné mechanizmy sú fyzikálne, ale aj mentálne procesy, ktoré možno kedykoľvek zopakovať. Diela - situácie, ktoré vytvára, sa podľa potreby materializujú a dematerializujú, vznikajú a zanikajú. Výstava pozostáva z inštalácií, objektov a kresieb.

Hurricane's Room (2010) je uragán inštalovaný voľne v uzavretej miestnosti, do ktorého je možné priamo vstúpiť, objekt Hurricane XI (Responsability)(2010) patrí do série uragánov, vytvorených z vodnej pary, koncentrovanej v sklených kubusoch. Donato Piccolo sleduje prchavosť a nestálosť existencie vybraných fyzikálnych javov, a tým pádom i svojich diel. Water's tachicardia (2009) je sklený objekt simulujúci činnosť srdca, Reversible III (2010) je minimalistický objekt, produkujúci náhodné dočasné štruktúry z vodnej pary. Reversible Pavement (2010) je parná interaktívna site-specific inštalácia zabudovaná v podlahe galérie. Súčasťou výstavy je i efemérna zvuková interaktívna inštalácia.

Donato Piccolo (narodený v Ríme v roku 1976, žije a pracuje v Ríme) vystavoval vo viacerých prestížnych medzinárodných galériach a inštitúciach, napríklad na 52. Benátskom bienále (2007), na Festivale Dei due mondi v Spolete /IT/ (2009), vo Wood Street Gallery v Pittsburghu /USA/, na ContemporaryArtFair v Istanbule /Turecko/, v Museo de Arte Contemporanea v Buenos Aires, /Argentína/, (2009), v Centre Saint Benin v Aoste /IT/, v Museo de Arte Contemporáneo Gas Natural Fenosa v Coruñe /ESP/, (2010). Jeho diela sa nachádzajú v rôznych verejných a súkromných zbierkach.

The show Reversible Mechanisms is the first presentation of young Italian artist Donato Piccolo in Slovakia. His work varies from drawing, sculpture, through installation to performance. He is interested in relation between art and science, focusing on scientific, philosophical and emotional aspects of the perception of physical phenomena.

As sculptural material he uses water, steam or light. The very important component of his work is interactivity. His works oscillate on the edge between rationality and emotionality suggesting on the one hand the scientific experiments and offering the direct experience of the natural effects on the other. The consequence of this approach is series of the objects, representing the hurricane, storm, or rain in the same way as we know them from the nature. They are closed in the glass cases or installed freely in the space.
The works of Donato Piccolo are characterized by minimalist aesthetics and the use of functional shapes, and lab-like atmosphere. Recently his interest has been concentrated on the research of the reversible processes.

Reversible Mechanisms are physical, as well as mental processes able to be repeated anytime. The works - situations he creates are materialized and dematerialized, created and destroyed. The exhibition consists of installations, objects and drawings.

Hurricane's Room (2010) is the hurricane installed freely in the closed room and it is possible to enter directly into it. The object Hurricane XI (Responsibility) (2010) belongs to the hurricane series created by water steam concentrated in the glass cubes. Donato Piccolo observes ephemerality and instability of the existence of selected natural phenomena and in the same time his own works. Water's tachicardia (2009) is an glass object simulating the real function of the heart, Reversible III (2010) is a minimal object which produces casual temporary structures by water steam. Reversible Pavement (2010) is a steam interactive site-specific installation integrated in the floor of the gallery. Also ephemeral interactive sound installation is a part of the show.

Donato Piccolo (born in Rome, in 1976, works and lives in Rome) has been presented in various prestigious international galleries and institutions as 52th Venice Biennial, /IT/ (2007), Festival dei due mondi, Spoleto /IT/ (2009), Wood Street Gallery in Pittsburgh /USA/, ContemporaryArtFair in Istanbul /Turkey/, Museo de Arte Contemporanea in Buenos Aires, /Argentina/, (2009), Centre Saint Benin in Aosta /IT/, Museo de Arte Contemporáneo Gas Natural Fenosa in Coruña /ESP/, (2010). His works are part of various public and private collections.
