Péter Szalay is a Hungarian artist working predominantly in the medium of installation and kinetic objects. Most of his works utilize found and recycled materials such as metal, steel, glass, wood, abandoned gadgets and mechanisms. Art based on recycling materials and objects scattered in our environment is an important, almost focal moment in Szalay`s art practice and expresses artist`s attitude toward the environment issues in which he lives and it simultaneously serves as his own criticism of the globalised society, environmental unawareness and omnipresent waste and wasting of our natural resources.
Though being still at the beginning of his artistic career Szalay wittily and sophisticatedly combines technical skills and craftman`s attention to detail and formal execution of works.
